PAHSA Launch
The PAHSA program is designed to encourage and facilitate Southeast Asian students to study in Japanese academic institutions and for Japanese students to study in Southeast Asian academic institutions in the area of peace and human security. The program has the backing of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Science of Japan.

13 February 2012 OSAKA
Inaugural short-term study program: JAPAN
The Osaka University Short-term Study Program 2012 took place from 13-23 February 2012, at Osaka School of International Public Policy (OSIPP), Osaka University.
10 students from partners institutions in Southeast Asia attended an intensive course with 15 lectures (including field trips), which comprised of an overview lectures on peace and human security, a particular area of expertise of OSIPP.See more photos from the inaugural program HERE -

First Southeast Asia program: THAILAND
The first PASHA Southeast Asia Short-term Study Program took place from 16–31 March 2012 at the Southeast Asian Institute of Global Studies, Payap University, Thailand.
16 graduate students from partner universities in Japan attended the program. -

Second short program: JAPAN
The Graduate School of International Cultural Studies, Meio University, Okinawa, Japan, hosted a short-term study program for 10 students from partner institutions from 6-20 August 2012. Students form partner universities in Southeast Asia attended the program. -

Second Southeast Asia program: INDONESIA
Syiah Kuala University, Banda Aceh, Indonesia, played host to the third PAHSA short-term study program from 06–19 September 2012. Students from partner universities in Japan attended the program, and also the international symposium “Strengthening Peace and Human Security in Asia.” -

14 January 2013 OSAKA
Special seminar: JAPAN
OSIPP hosted the first special PAHSA titled ‘International Order in East Asia: Between Traditional and Non-Traditional Security Challenges.’ The two-day program took place 14-15 January 2013. Professors and guests from partner universities, PAHSA students, and visitors from European institutions attended the meeting.

01 February 2013 PHNOM PENH
New PAHSA partner university: CAMBODIA
In late January 2013, Pannasastra University of Cambodia (PUC) became the sixth institute in Southeast Asia to have a department join the PAHSA program. The partner is the Faculty of Social Science and International Relations. -

End of first semester program: JAPAN
As the first PAHSA Semester Program in Japan came to a close, Students from Southeast Asia studying at the Japanese university partners gathered at OSIPP, Osaka University, to make their final presentations for professors, other student, and the public. Third Southeast Asia program: CAMBODIA
The Pannasastra University of Cambodia (PUC) hosted a one-week short-term study program, 7-16 March 2013, on peace and human security with a special focus on health in Cambodia. There were classroom lectures and also study trips to places of interest. The first ASEAN CAREER FAIR with Japan
The first ASEAN CAREER FAIR with Japan took place at Raffles Town Club, Singapore, 15 June 2013.
The ASEAN CAREER FAIR with Japan is a Campus Asia and ASEAN-Japan friendship event where Japanese companies recruit students graduating from universities all over Southeast Asia.

Third short program: JAPAN
The Graduate School for International Development and Cooperation (IDEC), Hiroshima University, hosted a two-week short-term study program on peace and human security for students from the Southeast Asian University consortium partners. The program ran from 4-14 August 2013. OSIPP, Osaka University, welcomed nine new PAHSA students who studied at the school for the fall semester 2013. Fourth Southeast Asia program: PHILIPPINES
The Manila Short-Term Study Program, “Challenges to Human Security in Asia,” was hosted by De La Salle University from 15-28 September 2013. The Manila program offered students an excellent opportunity to learn comprehensively about the many critical issues that affect peace and human security in Asia, from development, health, environmental issues to peace-building efforts in Mindanao, one of the longest-standing conflict and peace processes in the region. There were lectures as well as fieldtrips and also a two-day international conference, “Rethinking Human Security in the Asian Century” that brought together additional experts and specialists from other parts of Asia to Manila.Catch up with all the students on the Manila short program and find out about the events of the program and views of the students. -

The second special seminar on Japan held in conjunction with the consortium of Japanese and Southeast Asian universities in the Peace and Human Security in Asia (PAHSA) project took place 4 March 2014, at RSIS, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. The seminar was titled 'Making sense of Japan’s latest nationalist tide.' -

The second ASEAN CAREER FAIR with Japan
The second ASEAN CAREER FAIR with Japan took place at Singapore Expo, 7 June 2014. Around 450 students from ASEAN universities attended the fair and there were over thirty Japanese companies represented.
The event is organized to commemorate the fruitful, 'heart-to-heart' relationship that ASEAN countries and Japan have built over the years, and to consolidate a solid foundation for Japan to work more closely with ASEAN by focusing anew on nurturing young and eager talents in Southeast Asia needed for the creation of a better future for ASEAN and the world.

Fourth short-term study program: JAPAN
The Nagasaki Short Study Program took place 09-19 February 2015, at Nagasaki University, Japan. It was for students from the six consortium partner universities in Southeast Asia. The title of the program was "Human Security and Global Health: Lessons from Nagasaki, Japan.
Students were offered a unique opportunity to learn comprehensively about some of the critical issues that affect peace and human security in Nagasaki and its neighboring areas.

Sixth Southeast Asia program: CAMBODIA II
The PAHSA Cambodia II Short Study Program took place from 13-24 September 2015 at Pannasastra University of Cambodia (PUC). The focus of the program was poverty alleviation.
Students were offered a unique opportunity to learn comprehensively about some of the critical issues that affect peace and human security in Cambodia and its neighboring areas, there was a particular focus on poverty alleviation. -

Fifth short-term study program: JAPAN
OSIPP, Osaka University, Japan, hosted a short-term study program for 11 international students from PAHSA consortium university partners in January 2016. It was the fifth (and last) PAHSA short program in Japan. As the PAHSA Programs comes to a close, in this video the last batch of PAHSA students in Japan talk about the legacy of the program. From 2012 to 2015, the program trained ‘216 Next Generation Policy Leaders,’ or as the students say here, ‘Future Change Makers.’
